Laminate flooring from Luna combines beautiful, realistic wood styles with durable construction and easy cleaning, at an exceptional value.
What to Consider When Shopping for Laminate
Laminate flooring is no longer just an option to explore when you don’t want to spend money on hardwood – it’s in a league of its own. Before you start, consider these questions when shopping for laminate, and then let a flooring professional from Luna show you samples in your home.
How do you use the room(s) where your new carpet will be installed?
Laminate flooring offers exceptional durability, stain resistance, and easy maintenance. It’s reliable in almost every room of the house and can stand up to everyday lifestyle traffic – be it kids, pets, suitcases, strollers, or furniture.
Which wood style are you looking for?
From wide, grey wood planks to rustic, hand-scraped strips, modern laminate has something for everyone. With Luna, there are many stain and color variations to choose from, adding an extra layer of character to your home’s décor. Modern, classic, reclaimed, and exotic wood looks are all possible with new laminate from Luna.
Benefits of Laminate Flooring
Laminate is tough. It offers benefits you don’t always get with other wood floors. It has a durable finish that is less likely to absorb moisture. Color fading from sunlight and scratches from daily use are no match for the protective layer, either. Laminate gives you the wood look for less – less cleaning, less money, less worry.
Laminate That's Built to Last
1. Topcoat: The topcoat helps protect your floors from everyday wear, stains, moisture, dirt, and color fading from sunlight. Topcoat can be hand-scraped or processed along with the visual layer to create a grain texture very similar to that of hardwood.
2. Visual Layer: The visual layer is created using a high-resolution picture of wood grain to achieve the look of hardwood.
3. Core Layer: Perhaps the most important layer, the core is made of high-density fiberboard (HDF). HDF is engineered from wood fibers and resin. The core layer gives laminate flooring its structure; while it is not the most visible layer in laminate flooring, it can make or break the quality of the floor.
4. Backing Layer: The backing layer is a moisture resistant material applied to help protect the flooring. While standing liquids should be quickly addressed with any wood floor, laminate is built to be quite resilient.

Taking Care of Your Laminate Floors
Sometimes beauty requires more maintenance than it's worth. That's not the case with laminate. Help keep your new laminate looking great by following all manufacturer recommendations. Cleaning and maintaining laminate flooring can be simple:
Sweep up spills, crumbs, dust and dirt into piles. Use a vacuum without beater bars or mechanisms, which can scratch your floor. At least once a week is recommended.
Address standing liquids immediately with a clean, non-abrasive material. While laminate has a backing layer designed for absorption, it’s best to play it safe. The less water and/ or solution used, the better.
Laminate is durable, but not invincible. Avoid buffing machines, steel wool, scouring powder, and steam mops.
