Meet with Your Personal Flooring Expert

Our flooring experts always stay on top of styles and trends and will ask just the right questions to make the right flooring recommendations for your home.

Room Use

Be prepared for your Luna Flooring Expert to ask some of the following questions:

  • How is the room going to be used?
  • Is there light or heavy room traffic in the room?
  • Is the room the center of activity for family or entertaining?
  • Is there direct access from outside?

What You Should Know:

By asking these questions, Luna is trying to gauge which grade and style of carpet would work best for your home. Try to give as full a picture of your expectations for the carpet. Is it important that the carpet stand up to lounging pets, running children and bustling activity? Or are you mainly concerned about how it will look and feel in a formal living room that doesn't get a lot of use?

Color and Style

Typically, Luna will ask:

  • How much use will the room get?
  • Are kids going to be playing down on the floor? Or is it a formal room that doesn't get much use?
  • Is it a small room or a large room?
  • What are the lighting conditions in the room?

What You Should Know:

Some carpet styles are designed for active use and make a lot of sense in high traffic areas. Other styles work better in formal rooms that don't have a lot of coming and going. Luna's carpet experts can help you find a style that meets your needs if you explain how the room will be used. You should also consider fabric from drapes and other room furnishings. That way you can consider a range of colors that will match your existing décor. When picking a color, keep in mind that dark colors tend to make a room appear smaller and cozier and a lighter color tends to make the room seem larger. Color can also affect your mood. Warmer colors often make you more energized while cooler tones provide a sense of calm. Luna's Shop @ Home Service allows you to view the carpet in the lighting conditions of your own home.

Cost

Typically, your Luna flooring expert might ask:

  • Are you installing this carpet to spruce up your house before you sell it?
  • Or are you planning to live with this carpet?
  • What are the specific rooms to be carpeted?

What You Should Know:

Luna's carpet expert is attempting to determine what grade and quality carpet you are interested in buying. Also, he or she needs to know the rooms and their sizes in order to calculate the price.

All cost estimates from Luna include everything from padding, expert installation, and our famous Lifetime Installation Warranty.

Always make sure that you are selecting from the highest grade carpet you can afford. The higher the grade, the more comprehensive the warranty will be. By choosing a fine, first quality carpet, you will be reward with beauty and comfort for years to come.

Easy Installation Process

At the time of your purchase, your Luna Flooring expert will handle all the details of arranging the installation. From there, an installation will be scheduled. Luna's installers are professionally trained and certified by Luna. All Luna installations carry our exclusive Lifetime Installation Warranty

Here are common questions and concerns:

Who moves the furniture?

Although Luna will remove furnishings from the room, you should remove all breakable items—like vases, lamps, collectibles, and dishes—before the installer arrives. You should detach wiring from TVs, VCRs, stereos, and computers. You should also clear desktops, tabletops, and bookshelves.

Will they move the piano?

The complimentary removal of furniture is often limited to those items that two men can easily handle. There may be an additional fee for large, cumbersome items, including pianos, pool tables, aquariums, and oversized furniture.

What if my doors no longer close?

Some doors may need trimming to accommodate the thickness of your new flooring. Doors that do not open and close properly due to the new floor may be removed during installation, and it will be up to you to have the doors cut and re-hung.

What about moldings?

It may be necessary to remove moldings and reattach them during installation. Because some moldings, particularly quarter round, are fragile, breakage could occur. If it does, you will be responsible for replacing them. Scratches or nicks to baseboards are also a possibility, and you will be responsible for the touchups.

Will installers move my water heater?

Luna's Professional flooring installers aren't typically skilled in plumbing or electrical work. They will remove appliances from the room to install your flooring under or around them, but they do not typically disconnect or reconnect gas, water, or direct-wired appliances.

What about the bedrooms?

All sheets, blankets, and spreads should be removed from beds before the installers arrive. All items from the tops of dressers and from closet floors should also be cleared.

What if the sub-flooring is damaged?

All floor coverings need to be installed over a structurally sound and properly installed subfloor. Any wood that has been damaged by insects, water, or other factors should be repaired prior to installation.

Do I have to remove my old carpet?

The removal of existing carpet on the day of installation is a service offered by Luna. This includes the hauling of old carpet and padding away. Make sure to discuss the removal of old flooring with your Luna Flooring Expert at the time of purchase.

Do I need to supply anything?

Luna's installers provide the know-how, the equipment, and the muscle; you provide the power. Installers will need to use your power for their electrical tools, and they will typically use such areas as porches or patios to store equipment.

Other Installation Tips

Either the night before or the morning of your installation, vacuum the old carpet to minimize the airborne dust and particles that removing it will cause.

Also vacuum the subfloor after the old flooring and padding have been removed and before the new floor is installed.

Ventilate the room well by opening doors and windows and running exhaust fans.
